Prior to all cultivations, pots, trays and the like are filled with a substrate. This substrate may be composed of several components or may be a single material such as "peat" for instance. The process starts with the delivery. This may take place in various ways such as for example: in bulk, big bags, big bales, small bags etc. Pots may be filled by a pot filler or, if the pots are on carrying trays, by a tray filler or a template-type filler. Using a tray filler, trays may be of different sizes. Visser has developed a range of modular filling units. These machines are available as stand-alone units as well as units to be installed in a complete production line. In this case for example the machine is part of a seeding and/or cuttings-planting line.
