TIFS-III Replugger

This machine is being used to patch, replug or fix plug trays.

There are 2 ways of operation of this machine.

I: Stand Alone Mode
In this mode the replugging machine is running completely stand alone. Trays are placed on the two chain conveyors by hand. There is a chain conveyor for the source tray and a chain conveyor for the destination tray. Above each chain conveyor a digitale camera (Marlin 1492) is positioned to take a digital image of the tray and the cells with the plants. The software, in which the operator can change several settings and criteria, is determening what plants need to be removed (bad plants) and what plants need to be replaced to the destination tray.

The servomotor driven gripper head holds 6 grippers. The grippers have a fixed position in the gripper head and are set for a specific tray size. When an extra tray size is being used an extra gripper head is needed. After the trays have been through the camera section  they are being moved to the gripper section. In the gripper section the gripper head is first removing the bad plug from the destination tray. The bad plugs, once the have been removed, are dumped in a plastic bin. When all bad plugs are removed the gripper head is taking good plugs from the source tray and places them in the destination  tray. When the destination tray is containing 100% good plants the trays is moved out of the replugging machine and placed on the output roller conveyor. The source tray is also moved on the output roller conveyor once there are no good plants left.

II: TIFS-III in combination with a TIS-100 blow out.
When being used in combination with a TIS-100 blow out unit the trays are first being scanned in the TIS-100 blow out unit and the bad plugs are being removed. After the blow out unit the trays need to be pushed over to the 2 chain conveyors, by a push over unit, inside the TIFS-III. Inside the camera section a there is a grid plate underneath the tray. A lightbulb underneath the grid plate is iluminated in order to the camera system to get a better image of the plants. A digitale camera (Marlin 1492) is positioned to take a digital image of the tray and the cells with the plants. The software, in which the operator can change several settings and criteria, is determing what plants need to be removed (bad plants) and what plants need to be replaced to the destination tray. The servomotor driven gripper head holds 6 grippers. The grippers have a fixed position in the gripper head and are set for a specific tray size. When an extra tray size is being used an extra gripper head is needed. After the camera section the trays are moved forward to the gripper section. Because no plants need to be removed the gripper head now will start with taking good plants from the source tray and placing them in the destination tray. When the destination tray is containing 100% good plants the trays is moved out of the replugging machine and placed on the output roller conveyor. The source tray is also moved on the output roller conveyor once there are no good plants left.
